Support Starlighters II Theatre

For over 50 years, Starlighters II Theatre has been a place of creativity, education, live theatre, and lasting friendships. Our mission is to produce excellent live theatre through the ongoing education of actors and directors.

This mission is made possible through high-quality theatrical productions and by offering educational classes for young thespians, as well as courses for those wishing to learn more about acting, directing, playwriting, set design, lighting, sound, and costuming. These experiences are offered at little to no cost to ensure theatre education remains accessible to everyone.

Our Facade and Facility Improvement Project

We are currently undertaking a huge fundraiser to improve and restore our theatre’s facade and interior throughout the building. This project is an important investment in the future of Starlighters II Theatre, helping us maintain a welcoming, safe, and vibrant presence in our community for generations to come. Donations designated for this project will be used exclusively for this improvement. More information on this project and how to donate specifically to this project can be found here.

Ongoing Support Matters

While our improvement fundraiser efforts help us improve our building, annual donations are essential to keeping our theatre running day to day. Ticket sales alone do not fully fund our productions, educational programs, and operating expenses. We depend on the generosity of businesses and individuals like you to support the ongoing work that brings theatre to life on our stage year after year.

Whether you choose to support our Improvement Project, make an annual donation, or contribute to both, your generosity plays a vital role in sustaining Starlighters II Theatre.

Starlighters II Theatre is a 501(C)3 charitable organization, making your gift  fully tax deductible. For more information on other ways you can support our theatre, contact marketing@starlighters.org.

Starlighters Interior and Facade
Project

Starlighters II has been selected to participate in the City of Anamosa Downtown Facade Improvement Project, which will fund approximately 71% of our exterior renovation costs. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026. Above, you’ll find a current rendering of the project. While the design is still being finalized, it reflects several transformative upgrades, including the addition of a marquee and new doors and windows to improve accessibility, energy efficiency, and climate control.

To bring this vision to life—and to address several essential facility and technical improvements, we are seeking to raise $188,000. This includes an estimated $62,000 for our portion of the Facade Improvement Project and $126,000 for additional critical upgrades. Our Board of Directors, committees, and dedicated volunteers are fully committed to this effort, and we are proud to share that the Jones County Community Foundation has awarded Starlighters II a grant in support of this project, affirming the vital role local theatre plays in our community.

For 50 years, Starlighters II has enriched Jones County by producing meaningful live theatre, nurturing local talent, and inspiring young performers through our Young People’s Theatre Program. This revitalized facade will dramatically enhance our downtown presence and serve as a bold, visible statement that live theatre in Jones County is thriving, evolving, and here to stay.

We invite you to partner with us in this exciting chapter. Gifts of all sizes make an big impact in helping us achieve this next chapter at Starlighters.

Thank you for helping strengthen the arts in Jones County.  We are deeply grateful for your generosity and continued support!

Acting Audition

Auditions

We welcome actors of all experience levels and backgrounds to participate in our productions. Auditions will typically consist of reading from sides and some improvisational activities. Musical auditions will consist of singing pieces from the show, reading sides, and possibly a dance portion. Auditions will take place on stage in front of others auditioning. You do not need to bring a head shot or resume. No main stage show is ever precast, and all casting decisions are at the discretion of the director. Actors do not need to be the same age as the characters listed in order to audition. Please enter the theatre from the back lot door and head to the lobby where an attendant will meet you to give out important information.
