Support our theatre!
For over 50 years, Starlighters Theatre has been a place of creativity, education, theatre and friendships. It is our mission to produce excellent live theatre through the ongoing education of actors and directors. This mission is made possible through producing high-quality theatre as well as by hosting educational classes for young thespians and courses to help those wishing to learn more about acting, directing, writing, set designing, programing lights and sound and costuming.
These experiences are offered at a little to no cost to ensure everyone is able to learn. Ticket sales alone do not fully fund these initiatives. We depend on the generosity of businesses and people like you.
Starlighters II Theatre is a 501(C)3 charitable organization, making your gift is fully tax deductible. For more information on other ways you can support our theatre, contact marketing@starlighters.org.

Acting Audition

Auditions

We welcome actors of all experience levels and backgrounds to participate in our productions. Auditions will typically consist of reading from sides and some improvisational activities. Musical auditions will consist of singing pieces from the show, reading sides, and possibly a dance portion. Auditions will take place on stage in front of others auditioning. You do not need to bring a head shot or resume. No main stage show is ever precast, and all casting decisions are at the discretion of the director. Actors do not need to be the same age as the characters listed in order to audition. Please enter the theatre from the back lot door and head to the lobby where an attendant will meet you to give out important information.

Drama critic Mortimer Brewster and his sweetheart Elaine have just made up their minds to elope. But then, with the train practically pulling into the station and Elaine next door packing, he discovers his delightful aunts are poisoning lonely old men and, helped by his brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, burying them in the basement.  Mortimer doesn’t dare tell Elaine what’s going on, but sorting this out definitely means delaying the wedding. Then comes another complication: his evil brother Jonathan arrives looking for a place to hide out while having the plastic surgery that will save him from being caught and sent back to prison. Can Mortimer save his family, see justice done, and marry Elaine?

Arsenic and Old Lace is often described as a classic dark comedy with plenty of laughs, melodramatic thrills, and a little slapstick.  It’s all of that. But it’s also a play about wanting to do your best for the good people in your life, the desire to shelter them not only from blatant evil, but also from loneliness, ridicule and heartbreak

Arsenic and Old Lace

Director: Michele Payne Hinz
